ETI-N co-organizes SA8000 supplier training course in HCMC

Ethical Trade Initiative-Norway (ETI-N), in collaboration with Social Accountability International (SAI) and the Association of Garment, Textile, Embroidery and Knitting (AGTEX), will on November 18 and 19 in Ho Chi Minh City co-host a supplier training course on the Social Accountability 8000 (SA8000) standard for safe and decent workplace on conditions in SMEs and the development of effective management for ensuring ongoing compliance with that standard.
There is an increasing demand from suppliers across the world to be trained on SA8000 and how to develop socially responsible management systems that can both improve workplace conditions, the long-term viability of their company, and improve productivity.
The two day training course in Ho Chi Minh City will cover aspects of the SA8000 standard from its background, codes of conduct, content and intent, critical issues for implementation and compliance, national legal and economic context, as well as experiences of Asian producers already working on SA8000 certification, and self-assessments and tracking progress.
Participants will benefit by being able to work with SAI’s new factory self-assessment tool that allows a factory to benchmark itself against the SA8000 standard. This tool is also a useful way for a factory to evaluate its strengths and weakness in meeting SA8000 and other codes of conduct.
For more information about the course, please contact Agtex via phone number (84-8) 849 3978, mobile phones 091 830 8371 (Ms. Nguyen), 091 820 7065 (Mr Tai), or emails [email protected], [email protected].
