Denmark pledges to support Vietnam’s WTO bid

Denmark will, as a member of the European Union, continue to support Vietnam in its bid to join the World Trade Organisation, said a senior Danish parliamentary official on October 15.
Vietnam News Agency reported that the Chairman of the Committee for Labour Issues and Labour Market of the Danish Parliament, Jens Vibjerg, made the pledge during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan in Hanoi.
Vibjerg also reaffirmed Denmark’s policy to promote multi-faceted cooperation, especially in economy, trade and investment, with Vietnam.
As evidence of the pledge, Denmark signed a project worth over DKK 10 million to help the Aquaculture Research Institute in preventing the transmission of parasite-related diseases from fish to humans in Vietnam. The project will be carried out in three provinces for 36 months ending on August 2007.
