Teligent system operational

Malaysian telecom operator Telekom Malaysia has put a Sweden developed solution for mass calling and televoting in use.
     The Swedish supplier Teligent announced the contract with Telekom Malaysia one year ago.
     With the new technology will Telekom Malaysia supply call intensive services, for example phone voting during reality shows and sports news broadcasts.
     Teligent has delivered a geographically distributed system which is installed at six locations in Malaysia plus a central administrative system.
     Similar solutions by Teligent are installed in Russia and at BT in the UK.
     The latter user is European champion in most concurrent calls registered.
     It happened during the final round of Big Brother UK, 6 August 2004, when 153 000 calls were registered in one minute.
