Swedish TV channel checks out potential in Asia

A Swedish TV channel broadcasting all over Asia.
That may be a reality later this year if the business potential is there.
SVT Europa, a 24 hour TV channel for Swedes abroad, run by public service operator Swedish Television has sent out a letter to Swedish organisations all over Asia trying to gauge the interest for this kind of service in the region.
An Asian satellite operator has offered SVT Europa a transponder slot which would cover Asia, Africa and Australia.
SVT’s state concession stipulates that all broadcasts outside Sweden have to be financed by SVT itself.
If the feedback on SVT’s inquiry is high enough will be known shortly as the satellite operator’s quotation has a tight deadline.
A private subscription for SVT Europa is SEK 1000.00 per year. On top of that you must pay a card fee at SEK 180.00. There are special fees for hotels.
The antenna has to have a diameter of 1.8 to 2.4 meters.
