Readsoft captures government contract in Malaysia

The Swedish document automation company Readsoft has won a contract with the Statistics Department of Malaysia for a software solution to process census forms at eight different sites in Malaysia.
The prestigious project was won by ReadSoft’s Malaysian partner Datamation.
“ReadSoft DOCUMENTS for Forms is a very fitting solution for automating the processing of incoming census forms,” says Aw Lay Kok, Senior Sales Manager of Datamation. “The Statistics Department won’t have to deal with the monotonous task of keying in information into computers, which quickly frees resources for more important tasks. The software can summarize the content of the forms quickly which means that the Statistics Department can compile its necessary statistics information very quickly and accurately.”
The contracted software reads handwritten text, machine-print, barcodes, check boxes, circles, tables, matrixes etc. Among other benefits, automatic forms processing is much faster than manual keying of information, offering a quick return on investment.
As a first task, the Swedish software will be used to process 1.5 million documents in 100 days. That project is an Establishment and Enterprise Census, the first step towards completely automating the handling of forms at the Malaysian Statistics Department.
