Swedish TV on air in Asia

Yesterday, 15 April, marks the starting day for 24 hour satellite broadcasts of the Swedish TV channels SVT Europa, Text TV as well as radio channels Radio Sweden and P4 in Asia.
     This follows a Swedish government approval for the public service company SVT to extend its broadcasts to Asia, Africa and Australia and New Zealand. SVT Europa has signed up with Shin Satellite Plc to use a transponder at Thaicom-3.      You will need a 2.4 to 3 m diameter satellite dish and a digital receiver to view the channel in South East Asia. Plus a subscription. For home users it costs SEK 1150 per year, a card fee of SEK 208 year one and SEK 120 years thereafter. Apartments and hotels have special rates.
     Prices for kits with a dish and receiver vary by country. In Thailand, for example, suitable kits come for THB 13,500 up giving you access to more than 200 free channels at 12 satellites.
