The Elektra, the largest and most modern car transport ship in Sweden, has been extended 20 percent by a Vietnamese shipyard to 227.9 meters length, which allows her to carry 7, 352 vehicles.
This technically challenging task was done by the Korea-Vietnam joint venture Hyundai-Vinashin shipyard in Khanh Hoa province.
Elektra is own and operated by Wallenius AB in Sweden. Another four Wallenius vessels are being extended by the Vietnamese shipyard, which makes around USD 40 million on the deal.
