The Norwegian supplier of pulp and paper machines and process systems Aker Kvaerner has signed a contract with the Indonesian company Asia Pulp & Paper. The contract is to renovate three fiberlines mill in Indonesia. One line is located at the Jambi mill and two at the Perawang mill.
Kvaerner Pulping AB, part of the Aker Kvaerner group, is scheduled to provide engineering, procurement and supervision (EPS) services in the beginning of 2007.
The value of the orders is not disclosed.
“The order from APP confirms Kvaerner Pulping’s position as the provider of choice for demanding fiberline rebuilds and modernisations, and is a result of the trust APP has in Kvaerner Pulping’s technology and our track record in completing projects efficiently and reliably.” says Per-Åke Färnstrand, President of Kvaerner Pulping.
“Targeting vast improvements and modernising existing equipment with minimal downtime; projects like these are without doubt challenging. With our unique technology, knowledge and experienced, committed staff, they are a challenge we are well suited to,” Mr Färnstrand continues.
The modernisations include new equipment and process systems and aim to significantly improve quality and environmental aspects of the Jambi and Perawang mills, both originally delivered by Kvaerner Pulping in the mid 1990s.
At Jambi the modernisation involves a rebuild of the cooking plant. At Perawang, the Pulp 8 fiberline’s cooking plant will be modernised, while the complete Pulp 9 fiberline will be rebuilt and upgraded.
