Sweden Helps Laos Strengthen Educational System

Swedish Ambassador to Laos Annlis Aberg and Lao Acting Education Minister Bosengkham Vongdala signed a document to improve Laos’s educational system in Vientiane on 16 August.
     Around 14.3 million Swedish Krons will be provided by the Swedish government.
     The two-year programme aims to obtain an attendance rate of 95 percent of school age children in two districts in Vientiane province by 2006.
     Nearly 7.1 million Swedish Krons of will be used to implement a general education programme in these two districts. The rest of the funding will be go towards project to increase the quality of education in key schools and consolidate the educational system.
     The project will be implemented over three years, from August 2005 to July 2008.
