In the 1990s, she proudly represented Sweden in the Eurovision European Song Contest, and now Carola Häggkvist has agreed to sing during the upcoming Tsunami memorial ceremony in Khao Lak, Thailand. The ceremony will take place on December 26 – exactly one year after the disaster hit Southeast Asia, killing 543 Swedes. Most of the Swedish casualties died in Khao Lak, which is a couple of hours’ drive north of the island of Phuket.
“She was not a part of the original plans, but her participation has fallen into place within the last couple of days,” says Kicki Asplund from the Swedish Council for Support and Coordination.
