Sweden Gives USD 4.5 Million to Vietnam SME Development

The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) will give 4.5 million USD to a project on developing Viet Nam’s small and minor enterprises.
The three years project aims to encourage the local economy to develop, to generate jobs for and to reduce poverty in rural areas through activities in support of small and minor enterprises, which account for 95 percent of Vietnamese enterprises.
The project focuses on strengthening relations between these enterprises and the local authorities and giving entrepreneurs knowledge on business operations.
The launching ceremony was held in Hanoi by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on 9 December, 2005.
