Danida signs funding agreement with the Mekong River Commission(MRC) to support the MRC Fisheries Programme. The program aims to supports sustainable use of the resources in the Mekong river.
In connection with the donor consultative group meeting of the Mekong River Commission in Chiang Rai in Thailand, Danida signed the funding agreement for a 30 mio.
DKK support to the implementation of the MRC Fisheries Programme – phase 2 for a 3 year period.
The specific interventions comprise a strengthened information system and awareness of the biological and socio-economic factors of importance for a sustainable utilisation and protection of the fisheries resources in the Mekong River, development of a strategy for this purpose, and build capacity and introduction of sustainable management methods.
