Denmark Granted USD 39 Million to Support Vietnam’s Fisheries Sector

Danish ambassador to Vietnam Peter Lysholt Hansen and Cao Viet Sinh, Vietnam’s Vice Minister for Planning and Investment, signed a government agreement on the second phase of the fisheries sector program, on 29 December 2005.
According to an agreement, Denmark will donate 39 Million USD to support this program which will run until the end of 2010.
This program aims to strengthen the fisheries administration and the management of capture fisheries as well as ensure a sustainable development of aquaculture production and improved capacities of post-harvest and marketing.
Activities will be targeted towards the less privileged parts of the rural population, ethnic minorities and people in more remote areas of Vietnam in order to ensure that poor communities can benefit from the strong growth in the fisheries sector.
