Mekong Region Workshop Planned For Swedish Companies

The Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs – Project Export Secretariat, in cooperation with the Swedish Embassies in Bangkok and Manila will organize a workshop for Swedish companies to analyse upcoming business opportunities in the Greater Mekong sub-region (GMS) on February 28, 2006 at the Platinum I Conference Room, Intercontinental Bangkok Hotel, Thailand.

The objective of this workshop is to inform Swedish companies about business opportunities in Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, China (Yunan Province), Thailand and Vietnam.

The workshop will bring together representatives of the largest donors and investors in the GMS such as the ADB, the World Bank (WB), the United Nations, and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). It will also serve as a venue for representatives from relevant government agencies within the prioritized sectors to provide updates on GMS-wide and country-specific projects in the pipeline. Sectors to be highlighted will be environment and natural resources, energy and transportation where Swedish companies have a comparative advantage.
