Finnish Artist To Stage Tarot Exhibition in Bangkok

Marita Liulia has taken the Tarot and made it into a vehicle for contemporary
art through the use of digital technology. Now the Finnish artist will stage an
exhibition featuring her work at the National Gallery, Bangkok February 9 –
March 5, 2006.
         Liula is a
visual artist and pioneer of multimedia. Her earlier work includes widely
acclaimed interactive CD ROMS MAIRE (1994) and SOB (1999). She also works as a
performer and her recent collaboration ‘Hunt’ with choreographer Tero Saarinen
has been seen already in 20 countries since it premiered at the Venice Biennale
in 2002.
         Liulia has received
numerous awards including Prix Möbius International, Prix Ars Electronica,
Finland Prize and Finnish Cultural Fund
Award.
         The Bangkok
exhibition is organized by the National Gallery and Embassy of Finland and
supported by FRAME (Finnish Fund for Art Exchange), Arts Council of Finland,
Finnair and East Asiatic (Thailand) Plc.
