Vietnam Launches Largest Ever Locally-Built Ship

The Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) is to launch a 53,000 tonne-capacity vessel, the largest ever built in Viet Nam, in northern coastal Quang Ninh province April 6.
The ship, christened ‘Florence’ is the first of 21 cargo vessels that the Vinashin Ha Long Shipyard has contracted with a British partner at a total cost of over US$400 million.
Florence is 190 m long, 32.26 m wide and has a 64,000cu.m hold and was designed by Denmark-based Carl Bro Marine.
Carl Bro Group is an international technical consultancy company based in Denmark, Sweden, the UK and Ireland. The group provides consultancy services in the fields of building, transportation, water, environment, energy and industry.
