Jonassen Knocked Out of Indonesian Open

With a narrow defeat to the host nation’s Taufik Hidayat – who is also the defending Olympic champion – Denmark’s Kenneth Jonassen went out of this year’s Indonesian Open. Jonassen is currently Denmark’s second highest ranked player in the world, and he made sure the quarter final became a closely fought encounter. Cheered on by his home crowd, Taufik Hidayat beat Jonassen in two sets; both ending with the score-line of 21-19.
The quarter finals also became the final action for the Danish men’s double with Lars Paaske and Thomas Laybourn. They lost to the South Korean double team consisting of Yong Dae Lee and Jae Sung Jung, who proved superior opponents, beating the Danes 21-12 and 21-14.
