Sweden Grants Timor Leste On Humanitarian Relief Efforts

Sweden, through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), decided on June 30 to contributes SEK10 million (approximately USD 135 million) to the humanitarian relief efforts in Timor Leste.
Timor Leste is in the wake of the violence and unrest that have caused thousands of people to abandon their homes.
The grant from Sida is channeled to the United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF (SEK 5 million), the United Nations Development Program – UNDP (SEK 2.5 million) and the United Nations Population Fund – UNFPA (SEK 2.5 million) in response to the consolidated appeal from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for Timor Leste.
