Ibsen Festival 2006 in Vietnam

The Royal Embassy of Norway in Hanoi has collaborated with Vietnamese theatres and cultural institutes to organize Ibsen Festival 2006 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during October – November 2006.
Ibsen Festival in Vietnam includes staging Ibsen’s plays, exhibitions, publications on Ibsen and seminars with representative from Oslo. A meeting will also be organized at National University in Hanoi.
The target group is not only among professionals but also general audiences, young writers, stage workers and students.
This festival is in response to Ibsen Worldwide Year 2006 aiming to popularize Ibsen and his works in Vietnam. Ibsen was introduced in Vietnam in early 1970s with translation of his well-known plays such as A Doll’s House, Brand, Peer Gynt, Ghosts, The Wild Duck. Vietnamese audiences had pleasure to enjoy Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler played by Vietnam Dramatic Theatre in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
