The Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish Red Cross groups and Thai Red Cross Society co-organized a training workshop on first aid and medical treatment in case of emergencies in Phang-nga, one of the Tsunami hit provinces in Thailand two years ago.
About 30 local medical personnel and volunteers participated the training which were conducted at hospitals in Phang-nga during August 2-4. The session is aimed at enhancing the skills of local teams so that they are able to handle and assist people in case of mass injuries from any possible disasters. The participants were expected to share their knowledge and skills to others in their own communities.
The workshop is part of Sea Rescue and Emergency Response Program. This two-year program is organized in six provinces in the south of Thailand that were hit by Tsunami tidal wave in October 2004.
