Lao Radio Station Funded by SIDA

Lao National Radio is coordinating a project to improve the quality of program on provincial radio stations around the country.
Main purpose of the fund is to provide training and equipment, including PCs. Radio specialists from Sweden and Denmark have been brought in to help.
Among other things, the training covers news, interviewing, documentaries and magazine shows, and the use of music in programming.
The first phase of the project will last three years and cover six stations, two each year.
LNR, which came up with the original concept and put the proposal to SIDA, has taken on the role of project secretariat and is closely involved in running it.
Provincial stations in Laos come directly under the Ministry of Information rather than being part of LNR. They produce their own program but must carry LNR news bulletins.
