Norway’s Yara AB to Provide Indonesia Ammonium Nitrate Technology

Norwegian Yara AB, the producer of ammonium nitrate, will cooperate with Indonesia to provide the technology for the ammonium nitrate factory which will be built in East Kalimantan on the southern side of Borneo Island, Indonesia.
The factory will be the ASEAN’s largest factory to produce an ammonium nitrate, a basic material for explosives, with an investment of US$ 115 million. It will have an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of ammonium nitrate.
The factory is a joint venture between state-owned PT Dahana, PT Suma Energi Nusantara, fertilizer Company PT Pupuk Kalitim and PT Parna Raya.
The consortium will start building the factory next year and to be completed in 2008.
