DTAC subscribers rise 19% in April

Thailand’s second-largest mobile phone operator Total Access Communication Plc. (TAC) has reported 19% year-on-year growth in net new subscribers to its DTAC service in April.
     TAC, 30% owned by Norway’s Telenor, said it registered a net 75,485 new subscribers in April, versus 63,247 in March and 59,488 in February.
     At end-April, DTAC had 5.701 million subscribers, of whom 80% were pre-paid clients, versus 3.5 million a year earlier. It is targeting a subscriber base of 6.5 million this year, or about a 30% share in the local market.
