Danish NGO to Develop Khmer Ethnic Minority

The Danish branch of the NGO Care International convened a seminar on Khmer ethnic minority community development on November 14. The seminar took place in the southern province of An Giang, which, with Soc Trang, contains the two largest Khmer communities in Vietnam, reports Vietnam Net Bridge.
The seminar was part of a project funded by Care International in assistance to the Vietnamese Government’s poverty reduction efforts, focusing on the Khmer ethnic minority in the two provinces.
Taking part in the project – dubbed “A bridge for community development” – are senior officials from academic institutions, social organisations and professional agencies and working teams based on the interests of the target population. These teams will provide the Khmers with training in life skills and education in various fields, from community healthcare to using safe water and protecting the enviroment.
