Networking must be what Swedish do best as another networking event was held last night at Style Nordic, located at Ann Siang Road. A total of 46 guests turned up, consisting of twenty-five members of Young Professionals, twenty exchange students and the Ambassador of Sweden, Mr Pär Ahlberger.
The event was organized as a follow-up to dinners held at the Ambassador’s residence and to allow foreign exchange students to meet with professionals. Three dinners have already been held since Mr Ahlberger’s inception as Ambassador of Sweden. Mr Ahlberger hoped that these dinners would help to express his support towards the students’ future endeavours, be it in Singapore or Sweden.
“The event really served its purpose,” says Mr Joakim Axelsson, President of the Young Professionals, “We have professionals from the industry with exchange students mingling together, everyone had a great time. We’ve even got a few new members for YP.”
Mr Jonas Ericsson, Managing Director of Style Nordic also held a speech about Nordic design and why he opened Style Nordic. He noticed that a couple of years ago, Singapore did not carry any of the famous Nordic brands such as Nudie, Iittala, Nola and Filppa K. and decided to open Style Nordic to showcase these brands. Ironically, since opening Style Nordic a year ago, the majority of his clients are Asians. Perhaps, his success would lend an inspiration to the exchange students in attendance.
