Höegh Autoliners – DeltaMarin Cooperation in Vietnam

Norwegian ship-owner Höegh Autoliners and DeltaMarin ship design from Finland together develop a new Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro/Ro) car carrier design for Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) to meet increasing demand of customers.
The long term strategic cooperation of two Scandinavian companies provides Vietnam the construction of four large Pure Car Truck Carriers which based on state of the art technology and emphasis on environmental features.
The Höegh Horizon class PCTC will have higher cargo capacity than vessels with the same dimensions. The new design offers about 62,000 m2 of deck area and can carry about 7,000 car equivalent units. It has a reduced negative effect on the environment and includes new technologies developed by Höegh in cooperation with Deltamarin, such as ballast water treatment.
The cooperation also includes projects with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and participation by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The vessels will be constructed to DNV class and registered in Norwegian International Ship Registry.
The first vessel is schedule to be delivered in 2009.
