Dane Arrested in Thailand

Martin Damslund Jensen, a 30 year old Dane, was on Wednesday arrested by Thai police and placed in the custody of the immigration police in Suan Plu. The Dane was according to Pol.Gen. Suwat Thamrongsisakul arrested on the request of the Royal Danish Embassy as he was wanted by the police in Denmark as a suspect in a criminal case involving buying and selling of cars.
According to the police general, the case against the Dane involved the purchase and reselling of expensive European cars using falsified papers over some time. Martin Damslund Jensen is suspected to have fled to Thailand with the profit of 30 Mill Thai Baht – around 5 mill. Danish kroner – to marry a Thai woman from Tha Muang in Kalasin and consequently invested his money in a building a fishfarm and a restaurant, the police general informs.
“My sister and I have been informed by the police about Martin’s arrest,” his brother Lars Damslund Jensen told ScandAsia. Lars Damslund Jensen could otherwise not shed much light on the case.
It is expected that Martin Damslund Jensen will be sent home to Denmark in two or three days to face the charges against him. After his departure, he will be blacklisted and barred from entering Thailand again, the police general said.
