Vietnamese Break Dancers Experienced Denmark

A Vietnamese break dance group Big Toe, comprised of three young talented members, flew half world to Denmark to challenge their skills in the third annual international break dance competition “Floor Wars” in the beginning of March 2007.
“In the Floor Wars competition, we met a lot of people from all over the world: Denmark, America, South Korea, Holland, Spain, and Poland just to mention a few,” said the head of the group Nguyen Viet Thanh, adding that it was very interesting to meet these different people and to exchange experiences about break dance.
“It gave us a lot of valuable experience to see them dance, to dance with them and to exchange ideas,” he expressed.
Big Toe was among the “great 8”, eight groups who were special invited to be part of the competition with 40 groups participated totally. The “great 8” went to the final round but they did not win. A group from South Korea was the winner, following by a Danish group with the second prize.
During the competition, groups of dancers spent lot of time batting, dancing and exchanging ideas in their interests. “It was very good. We had dance sessions with the Danish break dance group Natural Effect, which gave us a lot of inspiration to new tricks,” mentioned the young Vietnamese.
“I would like to be able to invite them to Vietnam to dance with us here,” he added.
Besides the Floor Wars, Big Toe was also invited by Rumble Pack, another Danish break dance group, to their rehearsal studio to practice and dance with them. Likewise, the group also visited Espergærde Ungdomsskole, where they met a lot of young Danish students with great interest in dance. They were interviewed by the Danish television and dance on live TV (DR1 “Den 11. time”) as well.
