Norway-Singapore Shipyard in Vietnam Signed a 250 Million US Dollar Contract

A joint venture shipyard in Vietnam between Norway‘s Aker Yards and Singapore‘s Amanda Group has signed a contract worth 250 million US dollar to build six vessels for use in the oil and gas industry which were ordered by Norway-based Aker Capital.
Locating in Vung Tau, the Vietnam shipyard will start its operation in October this year and will have the first vessel delivered in 2010 and the last in 2012.
“We are very pleased by this contract as it confirms our strategy to offer sate-of-the-art offshore vessels from our new yard in Vietnam to met the increased demand in the Asian offshore market,” said Roy Reite the president for offshore and specialized vessels at Aker Yards.
