Maersk Contractors Named Its New Rig

A ceremony was held on Saturday 12 May 2007 in Singapore to name Maersk Contractors’s latest newbuilding drilling rig MAERSK COMPLETER which was honored by Mrs. Monique Desvoyes, with her husband, Mr. Pierre Desvoyes, former Managing Director of Total E&P Borneo B.V.
The new rig is of Baker Pacific Class 375 design which makes it suitable for drilling deep and difficult wells such as high temperature/high pressure wells.
“The MAERSK COMPLETER is the first delivery in newbuilding programme of nine high capacity drilling rigs, which will join our fleet over the next three years,” said Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO of Maersk Contractors. “The delivery of MAERSK COMPLETER is part of our endeavours to expand the fleet and remain at the forefront of development within safety, efficiency and innovation”.
MAERSK COMPLETER’s first job is a one-year drilling contract with Total E&P Borneo at Total’s Maharaja Lela field off Brunei.
