At the meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh congratulated the outgoing ambassador for his diplomatic achievements in the Lao PDR. The Prime Minister said that during his diplomatic mission, the relations of friendship and co-operation between Laos and Sweden, including the trade and cultural links, have developed.
Prime Minister Bouasone hoped that Mr. Jonas Hafstrom will further make his personal contribution to strengthening the relations. The outgoing diplomat thanked the Prime Minister for his warm welcome and praised the foreign policy and socio-economic development plans of the Lao government.
The Swedish ambassador thanked the Lao government officials and people for rendering co-operation to his diplomatic mission in Laos.
He said, although his mission in Laos had ended, he would continue to enhance the relations of friendship and co-operation between Sweden and Laos.
Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the same day, also received a courtesy visit of the outgoing Swedish ambassador. On this occasion, the Swedish ambassador also confirmed that he would do his utmost to further the co-operation between Sweden and Laos.
