Swedish and Singapore Navies Conduct Mine Countermeasure Programme

The Swedish and Singapore navies are conducting a Mine Countermeasure Exchange Programme being code-named as Lejon Singa in Stockholm, Sweden from June 4 – 14, 2007.
The programme aims to strengthen mutual understanding in areas like mine countermeasure training and the neutralisation of explosives.
The Defence Ministry said emphasis would be placed on improving both navies’ capabilities in the use of modern methods in mine countermeasures, such as clearing improvised explosive devices and that the annual event underscores the good relations and long-standing cooperation and strengthens the professional ties and friendship between both navies
