Thailand May Order Swedish Fighter Jets

Thailand appears to be on the verge of buying six Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets, according to the Bangkok Post. On 4 July 2007 the government gave the go-ahead for six of the twelve planes expected to be bought over the next five years
However No official confirmation has been made by either the Swedish government or SAAB, who manufacture the aircraft.
The Thais’ previous plans to buy Russian jets have been abandoned in favour of the lighter JAS 39 Gripen. The deal is said to be worth up to 3.6 billion Swedish kronor.
