Maersk’s New Chief Executive for Southeast Asia

An international company of Danish origin, A P Moller Maersk, has appointed Jesper Praestensgaard as chief executive for Maersk in Southeast Asia where he will implement and execute the global Maersk Container Business strategy throughout key markets in Southeast Asia.
Jesper was previously group vice-president and head of sales planning at the Maersk headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.
He spent six years in Singapore prior to that, three years as managing director for Maersk Logistics Asia from 1997 to 2000, and subsequently three years as senior vice-president and head of Asia Line Management from 2000 to 2003.
Prior to his Singapore posting, Jesper had also spent several years working for Maersk in Malaysia, Korea, Hong Kong and China.
Jesper will succeed Morten Engelstoft, who has been promoted to head of line operations at the headquarters in Copenhagen.
