Dance Athletes Troop to Philippine

Dance athletes from Finland, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam are expected to troop to the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel grand ballroom on September 22, 2007 as the second International Dancesport Federation and the Cebu Open Dancesport Championship take center stage.
“Eight in the morning and all throughout the night” was how Dancesport Team Cebu City spokesperson April Ramos anticipated how long the event will go on.
These competitors will be fighting not just for the bragging rights of the respective countries but also for the $1,000 top purse for the Latin and standard winners. Second placers will get $500, while the third placers will receive $300. The fourth to sixth placers will get $100 each.
International competitors come from 11 countries: Finland, Slovenia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong. The number competing in the tournament is already huge, but it pales in comparison to those joining in the barangay-based competition.
The barangay-based competitors will be divided into the juvenile, junior and youth classes. Joining these are the products of DTCC’s barangay workshops, which is done in various locations in Cebu the whole year round.
There will also be the national competition for the Juvenile, Juniors, Youth, which attracted dance athletes nationwide including those from Sibonga, Pasay City, Manila, Zamboanga, Davao, Iloilo, Bacolod and Kananga Leyte and Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat.
