Danish Musicians to Perform for Malaysia’s World Music Festival 2008

The Botanical Gardens of Penang will host “World Music Festival 2008 – Penang”, welcoming musicians and music aficionados from around the globe including those from Denmark, beginning 2 May 2008.
Being held for the second consecutive year, the “World Music Festival 2008 – Penang” is one of the events of the extended “Visit Malaysia Year” banner, and as such, is jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia and the Penang Tourism Council.
The Director of Tourism Malaysia, Sydney, Shahrin Mokhtar, says Tourism Malaysia and the Penang Tourism Council will be putting on a spectacular, not to be missed, festival in the Botanical Gardens, Penang.
“Malaysia has come a long way in promoting itself not only as a fantastic holiday destination, but also as a world-class centre of arts, music and culture,” says Shahrin.
“An array of vibrant performances will be on show in a garden setting to allow a true festival feel.  No formal seating will be provided, in order to allow revellers the chance to picnic and stroll under the stars or if so inclined, get up close to the performers on stage and dance the night away.
“In July last year, more than five thousand people filled the gardens to enjoy the entertainment by world-renowned musicians.  We hope to see this increase and eventually reach twenty thousand visitors not only from Malaysia, but from around the world.”
