Vietnam, Sweden To Further Research Cooperation

Vietnamese and Swedish scientists gathered in Hanoi on April 23 to review the results of 30 years of their research cooperation and work out orientations for future work.
At the conference, the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) said that Sweden will cooperate with Vietnam through its universities and research institutes which have entered partnership with Vietnamese counterparts by signing memoranda of understanding.
The form of cooperation will develop in a number of selected fields between Vietnam and Sweden from 2009-2013, the agency added.
The bilateral cooperation programme has attracted the participation of 30 research institutes and universities from both countries since it was launched in 1977 at a cost of around 35 million USD funded by the Swedish Government.
The programme focuses on scientific and technological research to serve socio-economic development and environmental protection.
