Time to Sign Up for Breakfast Meeting Hosted by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce hosts a breakfast meeting on August 28 2008. The topics will be “Insight into Company Law Amendment and New Work Permit Law”.

Company Law Amendment:
On 01 July 2008 the awaited change to the company law Amendment came into effect.  It is claimed to be an improvement to existing rules by simplifying and eliminating unnecessary statutory procedures under the law:
Reducing the total minimum number of shareholders from 7 to 3
Expediting the incorporation of a new company to 1 day
Permitting the conversion of a partnership into a limited company

Work Permit Law:
Effective since 23 February 2008 the new work permit law (Working of Aliens Act) has yet to be fully implemented.  The new work permit fee of Baht 20,000 is perhaps not what many were expecting whereas the 2 year validity period and untying of the work permit from the duration of stay are welcome features.  Employers and employees should also be informed about the new penalties against illegal alien employment.

Both topics deal with changes which will impact on doing business in Thailand.
Both topics are presented by Kobkit Thienpreecha, Corporate & Immigration Lawyer, Tilleke & Gibbins Int. Ltd.

The Breakfest Meeting will be held at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit from 7.30-9.00 A.M.
