This year’s “Europe on Screen” film festival introduces city landscapes and urban visions from a variety of European countries.

The festival starts in Jakarta on 24 October and continues after that to cover eight other Indonesian cities during the month of November. Come and join us, the tickets are for free!

The urban life in 19 European countries is presented through 28 European films of fiction stories and documentories. The purpose of “Europe on Screen”  film festival is to promote and support the cultural exchange through audio-visual medias between European countries and Indonesia.

In the context of the festivals’ theme of city life, Finland participates in the festival with a film Upswing (2003). Modern urban life is often full of contrasts and one single city can have many faces and realities. Upswing shows both the viewpoint of the people who are well-off and the reality of those, whose lives are at the same time and in the same city rather rough and challenging. These two seperate realities meet in this thought provoking film.
