Millicom reports 47 percent subscriber increase

Millicom International Cellular S.A., a mobile phone operator company controlled by the Swedish finance family Stenbeck, reports a 47 percent Asian subscriber increase year on year for the third quarter 2003, primarily due to high demand in its major Asian markets Cambodia and Vietnam.
     The Asian subscriber base was 2,437,759 by 30 September 2003 compared with 1,662,352 a year before.
     Most of these subscribers are registered in Millicom’s Cambodian and Vietnamese cellular systems.
