New Swedish Priest at work in Bangkok

The new swedish priest in Thailand, Mr. Lennart Hamark held his first service at the small but beautiful church at Soi Convent in Bangkok’s central business district on 14 September. Around 50 people attanded the service including several of the Embassy staff and the Chairman of the Scandinavian Society Siam.
Mr. Hamark and his wife Lis had greeted everybody by the door, but as this was his first official service, the departing Priest Ulf Claesson introduced the new Priest to the congregation. The Ambassador of Sweden Mr. Jan Nordlander, then welcomed the new Swedish priest.
The following week, the Swedish males had their own special introduction to Mr. Hamark as he hosted his first “Yellow Pea Soup” get-together for men only – a monthly tradition introduced four years ago, which usually gathers some 50 men from the Swedish community in Bangkok for a relaxed Pea Soup dinner in Swedish style with warm punch and cold beer.
