Victim of Danish Shooting Incident Returns to Singapore

The Singaporean man, who was shot in Denmark last month, has returned to his homeland and is now hospitalized at Singapore General Hospital.


The 53-year-old Ong Yiew Soon, was discharged from a hospital in Copenhagen, on Tuesday where he had been in an induced coma after he was shot on the evening of Jan 5.


Ong Yiew Soon was in Copenhagen to visit a friend when both of them were wounded by a man toting a shotgun in a restaurant.


Ove Dahl from the Police’s Homicide Department confirms, that the shooter has not yet been arrested, but Vietnamese Nguyen Phi Hung is under suspicion  


On Jan 28 the victim’s son contacted International SOS to begin preparations to bring him home. A doctor from the health-care company flew to Denmark on Monday and certified him fit to travel.


Ong Yiew Soon boarded the 12-hour flight in a wheelchair and was accompanied by the doctor. A spokesman from International SOS describes his condition as stable.
