SkeriNova Plans Vietnamese Express Train

A proposal to build an express railway between Vietnam’s two biggest cities has been submitted to the Vietnamese Government for approval. Sweden’s SkeriNova Holding Group outlined the proposed Hanoi-HCM City railway at a meeting with the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Department of Infrastructure and Urban Affairs last week.
According to the proposal, the railway will have two lanes with an average speed of 437 km per hour and will be built on a build-operate-transfer contract.
“Capital investment for the project will be discussed later when it is accepted by the Vietnamese Government,” said SkeriNova chairman and CEO Lars-Ivar Sundberg to VOVNEWS.
Apart from supplying trains, equipment and technology, SkeriNova will be responsible for building and operating the railway while Vietnam will be in charge of site clearance. The project, the first of its kind in the world, is proposed to start next year and will be finished in 2015.
