The Philippine Greta Garbo is dead

Legendary Philippine film actress Paraluman (real name Sigrid Sophia Agatha Von Giese) passed away Monday morning, an ANC report said. She was 85.

Paraluman starred in over 60 movies from 1940 to the late 70s. Her last movie was “Kailan Sasabihing Mahal Kita” in 1985. She was also dubbed the Philippines’ answer to Swedish actress Greta Garbo because of her perfect bone structure and svelte figure.

Born from a German father and a Filipina, Paraluman was a major contract star of Sampaguita Pictures and was a contemporary of Fernando Poe Sr. and Marlene Dauden. According to Wikipedia, it was Poe who recommended the screen name after he signed her up to star in X’otic Films 1941 movie “Paraluman.”
