Norway funds $1.8 million for UN eco-office in Hanoi

Norway will grant US$1.8 million toward building the One UN House, an eco-friendly office for 16 United Nations organizations in Vietnam.

Visiting Norwegian State Secretary for International Development, Håkon Gulbrandsen, Tuesday signed the grant in Hanoi at the proposed future premises of the office on Van Phuc Street.

“This grant aims to support the UN reform and the aid effectiveness agenda in Vietnam and at the same time supports a demonstration model for green buildings in Vietnam,” Gulbrandsen said.

As a tripartite undertaking between the UN, the government of Vietnam and donors, the building will enable the UN in Vietnam to use energy and water more efficiently, thus minimizing its ecological footprint.
