Danish Tenor Sune Hjerrild Performed Faust in Singapore

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra performed on 2 May 2009 Berlioz’ “La damnation de Faust” with the 36-year old Danish tenor Sune Hjerrild as the leading character. Besides the Danish tenor as Faust, Estonian mezzo-soprano Annely Peebo sang the role of Marguerite and Russian bass Alexander Vassiliev the role of Mephistopheles.
Berlioz’s “La damnation de Faust” is widely considered the greatest of several 19th century works based on Goethe’s Faust. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra was led by its Resident Conductor Lim Yau and performed the opera at the Esplanade Concert Hall
