Swedish Society for Nature Conservation attacks pesticide supplier in Malaysia

The agribusiness company Syngenta is using the EU approval of the dangerous pesticide paraquat to put pressure on Malaysia to lift the ban and phase out of paraquat the country has decided on, alleges the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation in a letter to the European Commission.
In its letter, which is co-written with PAN Europe and PAN Asia Pacific, is the European Commission urged to review the approval. If that is impossible, the Commission should at least demand Syngenta to make sure the same restricted provisions for use of paraquat should be applied in all the countries to which paraquat is exported, the organizations say in a letter to the Commission.
