Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility to be set up in Beijing

In connection with the visit to Sweden by China’s Vice President Xi Jinping, the Government announced the establishment of a Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Embassy in Beijing. An action plan for cooperation between Sweden and China was also signed on the 29th of May.
The centre will work to further develop the dialogue with China on corporate responsibility, for example, on how companies safeguard working conditions, worker protection, environmental responsibility, consumer rights and efforts to combat corruption.
“The centre will be an interesting example of how various policy areas overlap and can gather actors with wide-ranging experience of the different areas, everything from companies and trade unions to academic institutions and the public sector,” says Minister for Trade Ewa Björling.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Sida are cooperating on the centre and Sida is providing a considerable share of the financing.
