New Swedish School Opens in Huay Yang

The Swedish School in Lanta Sanuk is expanding. In 2011, a sister school will open up in the fishing village of Huay Yang just south of Hua Hin.

In Thai, Sanuk has the double meaning of working and taking it easy at the same time. This is a mantra that goes well with the new Swedish school in Huay Yang, because that is exactly how they think education should be.

The new school will be open in 2011 to both Swedish and Norwegian students between ages 3 and 15. Classes will be small and follow a Swedish curriculum, which will be taught by a competent and qualified teaching staff. The combination of this and the beautiful surroundings makes Huay Yang Sanuk School a qualitative and attractive alternative for Swedish students who wish to study in Thailand.

The vision of the school is to increase intercultural respect and understanding and thus contribute in making the world a happier place. But it also wants to be a place for families who wish to take a break from daily life in Scandinavia and spend a period of time abroad with their children – without compromising their education.

In the beginning, the school will only be open from January until March 2011 but the goal is to set it up to be open full time in a couple of years.
