Sandy Sandoro Sings President`s Composition “To Oslo for Our Earth”.

In commemorating World Environment Day at the State Palace here Tuesday, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked talented young singer Sandy Sandoro to sing one of his compositions.

The president`s song was titled “To Oslo for Our Earth”. Sandy who won the International Contest of Young Pop Singers NEW WAVE 2009 in Jurmala, Latvia, sang the song at the ceremony.

The song was composed by Yudhoyono on the sidelines of his working visit to Oslo, Norway, last May.

During the visit, President Yudhoyono and Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding for forest conservation cooperation in REDD+ program.

Before asking Sandy Sandoro to sing the song, President Yudhoyono had introduced it to cabinet members who accompanied him to attend Oslo`s international conference on climate and forestry.

At that time, President Yudhoyono played a guitar when his ministers sang that song.

The head of state said he was satisfied with Sandy Sandoro`s performance. More than 300 attendants of the World Environment Day commemoration also applauded Sandy`s performance.

“The song is good, and Sandy has extraordinarily sung the song,” he said.

Sandy Sandoro recently released his album entitled “Why Don`t We?” and his single titled “Blue Night”. The latter was welcomed by music lovers in Indonesia.

“To Oslo for Our Earth” was the second song President Yudhoyono composed. As his first song, “Save Our Planet”, President Yudhoyono also highlighted environmental conservation in his second song.

The “Save Our Planet” was composed during the 2007 UNFCCC in Bali.
